jrain was incomplete from the start. he wasn’t entirely true to how I should have and wanted to portray myself to others. in many respects, much of his lore and visual design stemmed from a “have your cake and eat it too” outlook with what I wanted to accomplish with him. but when Rhos (Twitter) came around to design his feral counterpart, she worked off a flawed basis and lent jrain a more serious, believable, and unique design that continues to resonate with me. I already gushed over what it was like working with her on this project for several months, and now I’ve gotten the chance to do it again. out of the two versions of my character, the anthro counterpart is who I relate to most. It was high time for him to be reformed.

with Rhos’ invested, thoughtful approach to character design, we worked together to figure out what needed to change and stay with anthro jrain for several months. She more closely united visual similarities between both characters’ forms to make the transition from feral to anthro more convincing; she tweaked his physique and anatomy to that which is ideal and compelling without being excessive or flaunting; her attention to detail with scalework, texture, facial expressions, and more continue to affirm her place as one of the upcoming (if not already established) greats in fantasy/furry art.

all in all, this revamped jrain is far closer to who I am and what I want to see of myself in him. I could not be happier to share the results of her work and the dozens of combined hours we put into bringing this reference sheet to life
